The latest run of Compostable Canvas is by Andrew Bond - South Island based artist who although self-taught has been making paintings professionally since the 1990s. He has no one style; he will produce abstract expressionist works, landscapes, surrealist paintings, along with any number of other techniques. Often mixing them all up together in a single work, in much the same way Contemporary music uses sampling to create a finished product which is more than the sum of the individual parts.
He has been involved in numerous exhibitions both solo and group over the last 20 years his subject matter ranges from contemporary debate (such Canterburys water issues), regional folks stories through to an ongoing look at death and its relationship with the living. Andrew believes there is no such thing is good or bad art. Instead, there is art that you may like, or you may dislike. If I can make someone stop and be involved with a painting for a few minutes, then I've done my job.
Compostable Canvas is made with paper from managed plantations, lined with a plant based PLA (Poly Lactic Acid) and 100% commercially compostable.
PLA is derived from naturally-occurring plant sugar. Our elegant cups are as robust and heat-retaining as any oil-based alternatives.
Only 5% of plastics are being recycled effectively and coffee cups aren't recycled in New Zealand. Bio Plastic PLA reduces carbon emissions by 75% when compared to Oil-based alternatives. For more info check out our Learn More page.
